This story is a classic example of how industries and technologies interrelate in complex ways. When you lose most of your auto industry to foreign competition, other industries decline as well: glass and steel, for example. Will aluminum and rubber be next? High-power solid-state electronics almost certainly will.
The US has one or two years to take the lead in electric cars and related infrastructure, or at least to hold its own in domestic markets. If it fails, the resulting loss of technological infrastructure will likely be irreversible.
Folks who want to preserve the status quo and keep relying on oil are not just undermining our energy security. They are consigning our national industrial and technological infrastructure to permanent also-ran status.
As for glass, electric cars need it, too. But their needs are for light weight and aerodynamic shape. If we don’t make electric cars, we’ll be buying the glass (or perhaps transparent plastic) in them from Asia, too. In a world of explosive global progress and innovation, standing still in one industry, especially one as important as cars or energy, is the kiss of death.

We need a bigger car. As our kids get older, the car we have now seems to get smaller and smaller. We are thinking about buying a Used Volvo V50. The only reason we haven’t done this yet is because we can’t get our kids home at the same time. We want to take them along for the test drive to ensure everyone has enough room. If we don’t get it done this weekend, I am putting my foot down. I don’t care what their plans are, next weekend we are going to check this car out. I just wonder if they will say it is comfortable to get back to what they want to do. If that is the case, they will be complaining again in no time at all.

When it comes to our next automobile we are trying to look into every option possible to make sure that we get a great deal. Someone mentioned buying a new car for the warranty. Another person said that a lease required less of a commitment. But of course, I have my heart set on a Used Citroen that I saw last week. It still holds its value and runs well, but because it is used it costs much less than some of the other options. Personally I was not interested in buying something new. It loses value too quickly and is not affordable.

It has been a few years since I have really changed anything about my life, and I am starting to feel a little restless. I know that I could do something crazy like go on a huge vacation or make a vow that I will climb a mountain, but I’d rather think a little smaller than that. The main thing that I have in mind is that I will take my Used Peugeot and have it painted a completely different colour. I may go for something really silly like orange, even. It will just be a nice change of pace.

I think I made my friend irritated today when I referred to the Citroen Picasso as a butterfly. We went to a car show and there was a beautiful red one that doors opening up and out like wings. To me, it looked like a butterfly. My friend pointed out at that moment that I associate everything to a bug. I hadn’t realized that about myself until that very moment. I had to agree but I still didn’t see why that would upset her. It wasn’t like I was calling her a bug or her car even. We ended up changing the subject and continued to enjoy the show.

I am just going to have to ask my mom and my dad for help again. I just can not stand it. I am not sure why I can not get back up on my feet after this accident. I am going to have to keep trying.
