Doing sit ups are less effective tummy exercises because sit ups only focus on on area of your tummy. For a flatter tummy you need to work the entire midsection of your tummy or you are really not going to see the results that you think you can get.  If you want to have the best exercise to flatten your tummy you have to find what works best for you.  We have all been fooled into thinking that you can do some sit ups and get a flat tummy.  Even worse is you can feel the pain in your abs so you think that it is really working.  Well yes and no, you are strengthening your tummy but you need to lose the fat on it if you want to see the abs themselves.
