Water Meditation
Focusing on an object or sound is a common form of meditation. A flower or flame or the repeated “om” sound are examples. But there is something about the sound of water flowing that makes it easier to let go of distracting thoughts during meditation. Sitting next to a stream or even by a waterfall in a goldfish pond is a great way to do this. In fact the latter may be preferable to a natural setting because there are fewer insect problems to distract you. In its simplest form, meditating like this can mean relaxing, breathing through the nose and listening to the water. Whenever thoughts arise, you can just redirect your attention to the water again.
