Because the roof cannot reflect heat it starts to diminish and fail. Signs of wear are curled corners, wavy or bumped up shingles, crumbly or loose shingles, and excessive shingle granules falling into the gutters.
Most home owners become concerned with roof algae when the first unsightly black stains begin to appear. It is usually noticeable enough to raise concerns. Roof algae kills a home’s curb appeal and most homeowners can’t stand it.
