STERILIZATION By Steam

When performing any surgical procedure, reducing the risk of infection is one of the primary concerns.  The first line of defense against infection is sterilizing the instruments that are going to be used in a given procedure.  The instruments can be made sterile by using a steam sterilizer.  The cleaning tool uses high temperatures combined with steam to clean the instruments.  The high temperature is used to raise the temperature of the instrument to the point that bacteria, parasites, fungi, and viruses cannot survive.  The steam is used to wash away any particulate, such as dried blood, that has dried on the instrument.
