Aviation history at the College Park Aviation Museum
If you or your family has an interest in aviation history, then you must visit the College Park Aviation Museum in College Park, Maryland. It offers something for just about everyone who has even just a small interest in aircraft and how they have developed over the ages. Even the area where the museum is located, the College Park Airport, is steeped in history. It is the longest running airport in the area. Wilbur Wright worked at the field teaching new military aviators how to fly. The airport is on the National Register of Historic Places. You will be able to see a number of historic aircraft at the museum, both replicas and historic pieces. Visitors will be able to see a 110 1936 Taylor J-2 “Cub”, and a 1941 Boeing A75N1/PT-17 “Stearman” among the many other exhibits. One of the most popular exhibits in the museum is the small-scale version of Wilbur Wright’s hangar, where you can see items that once belonged to the Wright Brothers. Everyone who comes to the museum will be amazed at just how much interesting history it holds. It is definitely worth a visit if you are traveling to or through the College Park area.
