Experience the wilderness and beach at Sea Rim State Park
The Sea Rim State Park offers tons of great activities for the wilderness and beach lover. The Park, opened to the public in 1977, contains more than 4,000 acres of marshland wilderness as well as more than 5 miles of beachfront. Those who love camping will have a great time at the Park. You can camp on the beach at sites that have electricity as well as running water. Or you can camp along the beach at primitive sites with nothing more than a sleeping bag and tent. Those who are looking for a more secluded spot might wish to camp along the platforms in the marshland area. You will have great opportunities to view an array of wildlife, especially if you choose to stay in the marshlands. Some of the creatures that you might see include raccoons, river otters, alligators, skunks, bobcats, and even coyotes. From kayaking to hiking and swimming, there is something for everyone. The Sea Rim State Park is currently closed because of damage done during recent hurricanes. The Park is set to reopen sometime in 2009 though, and families should make sure that they visit as soon as it opens. It is a beautiful place and you won’t regret it.
